Common questions

Is a 302 bad for SEO?

Not inherently. Use 301 for permanent moves and 302 for temporary ones. Consistency matters more than the specific code once links are updated.

How many hops are acceptable?

One is ideal. Each extra hop adds latency and dilutes crawl efficiency, so point links directly at the final URL.

Why does the final URL differ from what I expected?

A CDN rule, canonical-host middleware or a trailing-slash policy may be rewriting it. Check the server and CDN configuration.
