Common questions
Why does my JSON fail to parse?
The usual causes are trailing commas, unquoted keys, single quotes and comments. JSON is stricter than JavaScript object syntax.
Does formatting change the data?
No. Whitespace is insignificant in JSON, so formatting and minifying preserve the parsed value exactly.
Can I format very large payloads?
Browser memory is the limit. For multi-megabyte files, a desktop tool or command-line formatter is more reliable.
