Common questions
Are these addresses safe to assign?
Use them only in isolated labs. On a real network, a duplicate MAC causes conflicts; follow your vendor's guidance.
What does the first byte indicate?
It encodes the unicast/multicast and globally/locally administered bits. Generated test addresses may use a locally administered prefix.
Can I generate a specific vendor prefix?
This tool produces random values. For OUI-specific addresses, generate the prefix separately and append random bytes.
