Common questions
Is an IPv4-mapped address the same as IPv4?
It represents the same host inside an IPv6 stack, but routing and firewall rules may treat it differently.
Why does IPv6 use hexadecimal?
128-bit addresses are shorter and less error-prone in hex groups than in decimal.
Can every IPv4 address be mapped?
Yes, into the ::ffff:0:0/96 range. That does not make the host reachable over IPv6.
