Common questions

Why is the real speed lower than the link speed?

Protocol overhead, congestion and server limits reduce throughput. Use 60–80% of the nominal rate for planning.

Are megabits and megabytes the same?

No. One byte is eight bits, so a 100 Mbps link moves about 12.5 MB per second in ideal conditions.

Does this include peak bursts?
