Target accounts and what the email carries
A Target account holds your saved addresses, payment methods, order history and Target Circle offers. The email receives the verification message, order confirmations, pickup alerts, digital receipts and return confirmations. Circle is the part that makes the address matter: offers and rewards accumulate on the account, and support uses the email to identify you.
Good uses for a temporary inbox
A disposable address is sensible for browsing, checking whether an item is in stock at a nearby store, or signing up to see a price without committing your main inbox to weekly promotions. It also helps when you want to test the signup flow or check how the app behaves before you shop.
Where a permanent email is the right call
Orders, pickup and returns all depend on messages you may need weeks later. A receipt proves the purchase, a pickup barcode gets you the item, and a return label may arrive by email. If the inbox is gone, those threads are gone too. Use a permanent mailbox for any account that places orders, and keep the confirmation until the return window closes.

Safety notes
Use a unique password, ignore messages that pressure you to "confirm" a payment, and check that links point to Target's own domain before signing in. Retail phishing often copies order emails closely.
