Common questions

What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
Component encoding escapes reserved characters such as & and =, which is what you want inside a parameter value. Full-URL encoding leaves the URL structure intact.
Why does + become a space?
In form encoding, + represents a space. In path segments it is a literal plus, so use percent-encoding there.
Can I encode a full URL as a parameter?
Yes, with component encoding. Double-check that the receiving service decodes it exactly once.
