How to use a temporary email for account verification
A practical walkthrough for signups and confirmation codes
Almost every signup asks you to prove the email address is real. That confirmation step is exactly where a temporary email shines: you get a working address, receive the message, confirm, and walk away without ever exposing your personal inbox.
1. Generate a disposable address
Open TMPMailer and an address is generated for you instantly — no account, no password. You can keep the random one or type a custom name.
2. Copy it into the signup form
Paste the address wherever the service asks for an email. This is the only place it appears; it is not linked to your identity.
3. Open the verification message
Most confirmation emails arrive within seconds. Keep the inbox open — messages appear automatically, and any 6-digit code or confirmation link is right there.
4. Confirm and continue
Click the verification link or copy the code. The account is confirmed and the temporary address has done its job.
When a temporary address is a good fit
- One-time signups, trials, and downloads you want to test.
- Forums, newsletters, and coupons you may never use again.
- Anything that would otherwise flood your real inbox with marketing.
When it is not
A disposable address is the wrong choice for accounts you must recover later — banking, government services, or anything holding money or important data. For those, register with a permanent email you control and switch on two-factor authentication.
The rule of thumb: use a temporary address to protect your real inbox, not to abandon accounts that actually matter.
